arXiv Endorsement Policy

The physics preprint arxiv, also known to astronomers as astro-ph, has instituted a policy whereby approval to post to the arxiv is contingent on approval by an established submitter. When a person new to the system first attempts to post something, the system replies with a request for such approval, which the submitting author must then seek.

I seem to get a lot of these requests.

I can understand why the cartakers of arxiv would contrive such a system. However, I do not see that it should be my responsibility to sort the deserving from the undeserving. Certainly I never agreed to act in such a capacity. So my blanket policy covering such requests is to just say no.

So please don't ask.
