Using the L-shaped bar to attach the filter wheel to the focus
stage

Step 1 of 4

- These screws (and there's a third one to the right, not
seen in this picture) hold the L-bar to the stage. And no, they
aren't screwed all the way in yet. They should be flat with the
bar.
- This is the focus encoder (attached to the big thing to its
left, which is the motor-controlled screw). The arrow
indicates where it's supposed to be when the whole assembly is
complete.
- A limit switch for the encoder.

Step 2 of 4

- Seen from a different angle. Here are the other three
screws that hold this bar to the stage. You can also see the
three from the previous picture down below them (again, not
screwed in all the way yet).
- The stage. When properly set up, the bottom half of the
red piece moves back and forth to adjust the focus. See the
overview page for the whole
image.

Step 3 of 4

- Now actually putting the filter wheel plate on the L bar.
The arrows indicate what lines up with what, and the rest is just
screwing it all together.
- Just in case you're confused, this black thing is the L bar
from before. But let me clarify something a little bit: it's
only L-shaped at the ends. There's a piece in the middle that
sticks up so you can bolt it to the focus plane. Unfortunately,
we don't have any pictures of it, but if you take it apart it
should become obvious what's going on.

Step 4 of 4

- Here the screws are in their proper places. You can assume
there's a 1b somewhere in the background, left of the Allen
wrench.
- Click on the wrench to see just how much clearance it has.
This is a special wrench, cut short for the job.
